Shadow

I was fortunate to be able to get a new job. That's a Good Thing these days. I was happy that they called me to come in for the interview and go through that process. You know with the questions and answer about your past, present and future stuff. All that aside.. they told me that I would have to shadow someone. Well that meant going to the job site and following someone around for eight hours and letting them show you the job. That is what they call shadowing. Also this is without pay until you are hired. So, if you dont do well during your shadowing. Then you are not hired and you are not paid for those two days that you gave them your time. I did my best to try and ask alot of question and be attentive, pleasant, interested. All the things you need to get a JOB. They felt that I past the test and asked if I wanted to work there. Now since I was looking for a job, over the past few months. I opted to accept the job offer. You think.. lol
Now, I began to reflect on shadowing. I felt like this was not a easy way for me to get a job. Because I really had to put myself out there and pay for all the essentials. Just to go through this process, and in hopes of getting this job. I had to pay for gas, food and my time was not being paid for. What if they had said no, they didnt want me. Then those sixteen hours of my time would have been for what. That is something to think about and employers should really stop this practice now. People are really going through alot these days and if references aren't enough then stop jerking people around. Its just too stressful.

The word shadow had stuck with me and I was dealing with another subject matter. I thought about this shadow thing. Some people are living in the shadows of things, people and religion ect. They can't think for themselves or speak their own minds. They always refer to this or that. Like a scripture and reference what someone else said. Well what about what you want to say! Stop living in the shadow of things. Just like the job I went for. I don't want to be in someones shadow. I want to be recognized for me and who I am. If you want to stand out, then you have to have a voice. Speak up! Let people know who you are. You don't have to be mean or nasty to voice your opinion. If you don't do it, then who will do it for you. Oh yea, you can always quote other peoples words and reference what other people say. Does that work for you? I think not. Living in the shadows and muttering indistinct words.

When you are in the shadows you are not distinct. Who sees you back there? When you sit in the church or class. Are you always in the back? Ask yourself, why you feel that you can't be upfront. Why are you sitting behind people in the shadows and are you afraid of being seen or heard. There is no need to be like this. Everyone is human and we are all here for a reason. Don't sit back and be in someones shadow. Come out and let your voice be heard. Let your light shine and don't sit back . Stand up for everything you believe and the One thing you should truly believe in is yourself. Always be true to you and live your life in a positive direction in your own self. Not in the shadows! peace people, go forward in your thinking. have a great one.
